Now that my friend has had her baby...my sweet God daughter....I have noticed the price of diapers. Wow! The price has gone up considerably since I had my son 8 years ago. The thought of buying 2 packs every week at $8 each (on sale with a coupon) just blows my mind. Not only are you literally throwing your money away, but it can be hard on your budget.
I have looked into an alternative.
Cloth diapers are so much more inexpensive, and better for our landfills. And lots of WAHM's have designed some really cute ones! I have priced them on Ebay.com and Etsy.com. Premade ones can cost from $7 on up to $16 each. And although the price may seem high, think of what you spend in a month on disposable diapers. (average $50 to $65) They would pay for themselves in several months.
Making your own will cost a lot less, but you have to spend the time making them. There are several sites on the net that give instructions along with the free patterns. If you have a fabric stash at home (like I do) the cost will be minimal. All you would need is elastic, thread, and possibly some binding. If you don't have fabric the cost will be higher.
Here are a few diaper making pages I have found:

I am going to gather all my supplies this week and start sewing next week. I will post the cost of what I make with some pictures along the way.
