Tip #58 Cheap Snacks

As my son (ages 6) gets older, his stomach seems to become an endless pit! No joke, he can wolf down 4 pancakes and then half an hour later be hungry!! I have had to find ways to keep him full while staying healthy. And how do I do it on a budget???

FRUIT!!

We have an endless supply of Bananas and Apples in our house. They are relatively inexpensive and filling. I get my bananas at Costco for $.39 a pound and my apples at the grocery store on sale. I buy the bag of apples that are on sale that week. It comes to about $7 a week total for his snacks.

We have told our son that any time he is hungry he can have either one. He doesn't have to ask, he can just get one out of the fruit bowl. He usually has one between each meal.

I feel good knowing they are healthy snacks that he likes to eat.

Happy Saving!!
