When we got our car 6 years ago, we thought we had to get the oil changed by the dealer. It was new and shiney and we wanted to keep it in tip top shape. My parents kept offering us coupons for the local Texaco station for discount oil changes. We politely said no, and explained that we needed the dealer to care for our car. After all, when we got our oil changed they also vacuumed, washed, checked the tires, and left little mints in the cup holder. Who wouldn't want all of that???
US!!
Why did we ever think that $35 for an oil change would be better than $17 ?? My father had used the Texaco place for years and never had a problem. No...they don't wash or vacuum the car, or leave mints. But they do check the tires! And why would I pay someone $13 to do the extra stuff when I have a 6 year old that will do it for ice cream ($2)!! After all, most of the mess on the inside is his!!
We have been using Texaco for almost 2 years now, and don't have one complaint. And my son loves the ice cream he gets for washing the car!!
So, next time you need an oil change, ask your friends and family if they can reccomend a cheaper place than the dealer! (Or, if you have the supplies and knowledge to do it yourself, that would be even cheaper!!!)
Happy Saving!

I go to the local Walmart for cheaper oil changes. I spend $21 per oil change. If I want to spend more, I can, but I get all the fluids looked at along with the oil change. I wish we had a Texaco near buy to get an even cheaper one like you!
