Tip # 7 Saving Gas

Want to save at the pump???

The key to conserving gas is to plan where and when you go. In my case, I do most of my shopping on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. Why??? On Wednesday evenings we go to church. There is a grocery store across the street, and a Walmart on the way home that I go to for last minute things I need. On Fridays, I take my son to see his grandparents. They have a craft store, clothing store, grocery store, and pharmacy about 5 minutes from their house. On Saturdays I pick my son up from his grandparents and pick up anything I have ordered from one of those stores. The point is, do your shopping around your schedule. It saves time and money!!

Also, plan your meals ahead of time. This helps to alleviate any last minute trips to the grocery store. Before I planned my meals, I always ran out of bread and milk. When I read that bread can be put in the freezer, I started purchasing the 3 loaves I needed for the week. It only takes a couple hours to thaw, and it doesn't taste any different. Now, I make one trip to the grocery store each week. And with the store 15 minutes from my house, I am definitely saving gas, and 1/2 an hour in drive time!!

Happy Saving!
