Ever wonder why the whole chicken costs less than the little bit of chicken? It comes down to how much time is spent cutting and packaging. I can get a whole chicken for 99 cents a pound, but the same sized chicken cut up is 1.99 a pound. See, the more the butcher has to stand there and deal with that chicken, the more you will pay. He has a salary that has to be paid, so you are paying it with every piece of meat you buy cut up.
I purchase a whole chicken, roast it, and then cut it up and store the leftovers for other meals. It is much more cost effective.
Next time you are in the chicken aisle, check out the difference in prices.
Happy Saving!!
