Tip # 53 Check Your Coverage

For those that have not looked at the graphic on the left of this page, I created the girl to look like me. How cool is that?!?! Anyway, I created her/me with glasses. And let me tell you, I do not like the fact that I wear them. I have been wearing glasses/contacts since I was 6 years old.

A few years ago we couldn't afford contacts, so I purchased glasses. With our insurance we paid $35 for the exam, and $75 for glasses and was pretty happy about it. But, having a very active 6 year old can mean trouble for glasses. I have broken them twice and now they are beyond repair.

My husband increased our coverage on our vision plan this year. It was only $2 extra a month, and it now means my exam and glasses are 100% free!!! Isn't that a great word?! The insurance will give me a $200 allowance on contacts if I decide to go that route. But that would mean I would have to shell out an extra $100 which is not in our budget.

So, this long winded story has a point, I promise!! Check your insurance coverage. If it only costs an extra $24 a year to save you an extra $110, you might want to take it! I'm glad my husband did. And since my husband and I both need glasses this year, it will save us about $200 out of pocket! I don't know about you, but I would gladly pay $24 instead of $200!!

Happy Saving!!
