Updating Blog
I have been very busy counting my emergency / stockpile items and have updated the sidebar to reflect the new numbers. The stockpile helped to sustain us when my husband had to stop working due to his stoke. I hope to replenish the items I am completely out of this year.
I am also working on a new series of posts called "$15 a Day". My budget allows $15 a day to feed my family of 3, and I will show you how we eat healthy on that amount.
My regular posts will start up January 1, 2013.

Now is a great time to stock up on non perishable food.
Grocery stores always have great sale prices on canned and boxed food during the holidays.
Don't forget to use your coupons to save even more money!

Saving on Christmas Gifts
When this time of the year comes around I am
always trying to figure out what to get everyone. Last year I tried something
new, and it was a hit! I made my son pajama pants for Christmas!! It saved me so
much money. I found a pattern by Butterick and made several pair for under $5
each! I purchased the fabric at my favorite craft store using 40% off coupons.
If you have a sewing machine and a fabric store near by, it is well worth it.

Stocking Up For The New Year
I took a quick glance at my cleaning supplies, and realized I need to stock up for the new year. I will start watching for sales and coupons so I can buy what I want at a good price.
These are the things I will need to have plenty of:
1. cloth towels - I don't use paper towels to clean, it's a waste of money and trees
2. glass cleaner - I use vinegar and water in a spray bottle
3. surface cleaner - I love Lysol, so I use Lysol and water in a spray bottle.
4. floor cleaner - Lysol again
5. dryer sheets - 1 big box will do for the year since I cut mine in thirds!
6. trash bags - I use a 4 gallon trash can, so I can buy a big box that will last me the year!

Organic Foods
For those that think you can't buy organic food on a budget.....think again!
I have several organic food stores in my area, but my favorite is Whole Foods. They have regular sales and great prices!
Today I stopped by and got an organic pizza for $4.99, a bag of organic potato chips for $2.00, and a box of organic blueberry waffles for $2.69! The best part.....it's all healthy for me!
So, next time you're out and about and see an organic food store, check it out.
You just may find some great deals....and great food!
